A family business, rooted in Norfolk

Magpie Gardening is Alex and Bethan Beedle. We're a small, two-person team, which means the people who quote your garden are the same people who care for it. No subcontractors, no call centre, just us.

We named the business after the magpie and the old rhyme, "one for sorrow, two for joy". Joy is the whole point: a garden that lifts you every time you step into it, and that's quietly full of life when you look closely.

Alex's background as an archaeobotanist means he reads a plot before touching it, soil, aspect, what's already growing and what wants to. Bethan's a herpetologist with a soft spot for amphibians, so wildlife ponds and the creatures that move into them are something of a speciality. Between us, we cover everything from a regular tidy to a full native redesign.

We work right across South Wootton, King's Lynn and West Norfolk, and most of our work comes by word of mouth, which is exactly how we like it.
